Under The Sea Party!

Madeline had an Under the Sea Birthday Party this year!  We celebrated early on November 30th.  This way, we avoided the craziness that comes with the holiday season.  Her party was after school on a Friday.  We invited her class and a few extras over for a little treasure hunt and a swim.  I figured Madeline should soak up her chance to have a pool party for her birthday!

Upon arrival, each child was given the choice between team mermaid and team pirate.  I had a treasure hunt set up.  The teams had a series of 9 puzzles to solve.  The team that finished first was given control over the pirate ship (which was filled with water balloons!).

My amazing and talented friend Elisa made this beautiful cake for Madeline.  All of the children were enamored with it!

It seemed like a sea of children!

I taught the kids how to use a cipher wheel to decode some of the secret messages found during the treasure hunt.  They also had picture puzzles, cross words and a rebus puzzle to solve.

All of the children worked very hard to solve the puzzles!

Finally...  Balloon Fight!!

There were over 1000 balloons filled for the balloon fight.  We had over 35 children and the balloon fight lasted more than 15 minutes!  It was the first time I've seen children get tired of the balloon fight before we ran out of water balloons.  Amazing!

After racing around everybody was hungry.  Time for afternoon tea!

Next up, cake!

What's a castle cake without firework candles?!

Mad and her best friend.

We all enjoyed Madeline's party!  It ended with a huge downpour of rain.  I was just happy the rain waited until the party was over.  We got lucky!  A swimming party planned during the raining season is a risky plan.
