Snow Day!

It SNOWED! I don't mean just a little bit... it really snowed! When I looked out the window, there were BIG, WHITE, FLUFFY snow flakes blowing on the breeze. I don't remember it ever snowing so much at our house. It was really fun!

It was a perfect day for snow for me, because we didn't have any plans or any need to go anywhere. We just stayed home all day and enjoyed it. We got dressed up in winter clothes a few times and went out side to play in the snow. The kids tried to catch snow flakes on their tongues. They picked it up and felt how cold it was. They poked it and stomped on it. We collected it in a bowl and brought some inside to make snow ice cream.

It's so crazy... On Sunday, it was 75 degrees and Tuesday it snowed! Here are a few pictures...

Baby Lions!

The Austin Zoo has baby lions! It's actually more exciting than that, they are Barbary Lions, which is a breed of lions that is nearly extinct. Scientists believe they are extinct in the wild and less than 100 exist in captivity. Here's an article with more information: http://www.austinzoo.org/images/up/File/AustinZoo_Lions_2-8-10_v3.pdf

Viewing of the cubs is available on a very limited basis, only 3 hours per week! It all worked out for me on Monday, Feb 22. I took the kids to the zoo at just the right time and the weather was beautiful. We got to see the two little lion cubs. At the time, they were about 6 weeks old and weighing about 15 pounds. The cubs were just 1/2 pound at birth and they will be about 300 lbs when they are fully grown.

We are Austin Zoo members, so I plan to take the kids back as often as I can, so we can watch these little guys grow up. I didn't get too many pictures. I was there by myself and the kids needed some management, but I got a couple of shots. Enjoy!

Daddy Daughter Dance!

Scott took his daughters to the Daddy Daughter Dance at Lifetime Fitness this month. It's a fun party that they all enjoy! Madeline told me that she got to meet Snow White and Cinderella. They decorate the gym very fancy and they take pictures of all the Dads and daughters. SO cute! The girls let me curl their hair with a curling iron this year (a first!). We took a bunch of pictures, these are the best ones...

Squirrel Appreciation Day!

So... I have finally unloaded the pictures from my camera and I have several posts to publish. Here's the first one...

Back in January, my mom's club had a very fun play date. We celebrated Squirrel Appreciation Day! We went to a little park that had a pond. We did a nature walk and read a story about a squirrel and we had some nuts like squirrels eat. It was so adorable! Here are some pictures from that day!
