Father's Day Fishing Trip.

We took a day-trip today to take the kids fishing! They've never been. I was inspired after reading Shiloh McKinnon's blog. So, we loaded everyone up, packed a few snacks and headed out. We stopped at Walmart first, to get some poles for the girls and some life vests, just in case we wanted to do a little swimming.

We drove out to our property in Stonewall, Texas. Scott and I have visited it a few times, but we've never taken the kids there. It went pretty well... The walk from the road (which is now paved!) to the river is kinda long. And there are prickers in the grass. And the grass is kinda tall... AND it's kinda steep to get down to the water. After a little whining and some "hold me, Daddy!"'s we finally made it to the water. I have to be honest, it was a little more organic than I expected. It was a lot greener, more bushes and more algae. However, once we found a place to sit and get the poles out, everyone had a great time!

We found a very shallow spot where the girls could stand in the water, cast their poles and reel them back in. We got Barbie fishing poles that had little butterflies attached to the end. It wasn't "real" fishing, but it was great practice. They got the general idea and they had fun!

Scott brought his fly fishing pole and got it out a little bit. Our property is on the Pedernales River, which is a great fly fishing river.

They have the lots marked now. I was so delighted to see that they put our name on our lot!

After fishing, we went across 290 to Becker Vineyard. We had lunch there (a pic-nic we packed) and a bottle of wine. They kids had a ball running around in the grass. They had a live musician playing and lots of shade. It was very relaxing.

Wyatt is ONE!

Wow. Can you believe it? Wyatt is ONE. His birthday was June 6th and we had a little party. We fired up the BBQ and had a few friends over. It was a fun little party and I think everyone had a great time.

Pictures with the cousins...

My niece and nephew, Ian and Grace, have been staying with my in-laws for a couple of weeks. They are currently moving to Texas, but there was a couple of weeks between when they got here and when their house will be ready. Needless to say, my kids have been loving it! They've gotten to see their cousins nearly every day. I think it's wonderful that the kids get this chance to get to know each other.

Today, Marcia and I took all of the kids to a park in Austin to take some pictures. I think it went pretty well. The kids were all well behaved. Madeline was a little bit of a stinker, she wouldn't let me get any pictures of her face. There are some great shots! I regret... I didn't get a picture of just Ian and Grace, or just my kids. Oh well... Next time!

These pictures are some of my favorites...
