We had a house full this week!
Hurricane Ike hit the Texas coast on Friday night and Saturday last weekend. Keri lives in The Woodlands, which is north of Houston. Luckily, it's about 150 miles north of Galveston, so she did not get Ike in it's full force. However, it was strong enough to take down one of her HUGE trees that landed across the front of her house and onto her car! Her power was lost.
After 2 nights without power, the Tetlow's headed to Austin. The plan was to pick up a generator and head back, but supplies were low. On Monday morning, Costco had a shipment of generators available. Alex waited in line starting at 6 in the morning, but he got one! Keri, Alex, CJ and baby Chase headed back home Monday with the generator to get more clothes and to pick up Grandma Kathy who was flying in to Houston that day.
Kathy, Keri and Chase were back in Austin around 11 PM Monday, and soon after arrival, Kathy had an accident. She fell down the stairs and broke her ankle. Scott took Kathy to the ER. They got her fixed up but said it was really bad and she needed to meet with an orthopedic surgeon right away. She got an appointment Tuesday morning and had surgery on Wednesday morning. The surgeon said that it went really well and that she will be as good as new in 8 weeks.
Keri's power came back on at her house Tuesday night. Wednesday was Emma's 5th birthday. After Kathy's surgery and a small celebration for Emma, Keri loaded everyone up and drove home.
The kids had a ball playing together! I took them all to music class on Monday, the Zoo on Tuesday and to a Dino Exhibit on Wednesday. Here are some pics: I'll post the Zoo and Dino exhibit in a separate post...

How fun that you have kids around the same age. I wish my kids had some cousins on my side of the family. But with Tarah getting divorced, Bryce in the Philippines on a mission and Drake still in high school it will be a while.
