Three month check in

We've been in Singapore now, for just over 3 months.  Wow.  Time goes so quickly.  I think overall, we are really enjoying our time here and it's wonderful to have this opportunity to see a different part of the world and learn about new cultures.

That said, moving is hard.  I think part of the shiny newness is starting to wear off and maybe we have entered into a new stage in our culture shock.  You may have noticed that I haven't been posting at the same rate that I was.  Part of that is an increase in business and the other part is that I've been a little grumpy.  I really can't say specifically why, but I am definitely more irritable.  I try to be happy and upbeat in my posts, because I don't think it's interesting or fun to listen (or read about) somebody complaining.  However, I also want to keep this record as real as I can.  I want to remember all of the good and bad times.

These feelings are right on schedule.  According to what I have read, from months 3 or 4 until 6 or 8, there's a general unhappiness.  We're all really feeling that we have moved away.  We're not on vacation.  There is an easiness when you are living in a place that you are familiar with.  Although it is very excited to get to see so many new places.  Sometimes, it's nice to have somewhere familiar to go.  Sometimes, you just want to go to that store that you know has exactly what you need.  You don't want to have to figure out what store to go to or how to get there or what product is similar to the one that you know.

By the way, can somebody send me a Mr. Clean magic eraser?!  Madeline drew in crayon all over the wall and I can't get it off.  I know the Mr. Clean magic erasers work magic on crayon.  I can't find a similar product here.

When Scott was in Taiwan on his last business trip, he picked up these little canvas paint by numbers for the kids.  On Saturday morning, we got them out and sat out on our balcony and the kids painted them.  Lily especially enjoyed it!

So, I'm a little grumpy and I've been kinda snappy at the kids.  Scott's working really hard and he feels stretched thin.  The kids are still really enjoying school and they seem to be doing pretty well.  Lily's been a little more emotional lately.  I'll call her delicate.  Madeline has been more mischievous than usual and Wyatt has been whiny.  Wyatt's been waking up at night crying that he wants to go back to our old house.  So sad!  Doesn't our house sound fun!  I need to keep in perspective what we've just done and give us all some time to process it all.  Any advice?!

This weekend we went to a garden center and got some pots and plants for our balcony!  It was really fun.  As you probably know, Scott loves to garden!  Growing vegetables makes him very happy.  I love it too, but it's really his joy.  We got a lime tree, bell pepper, basil and mint as plants, already growing.  We found some seed packets for some other vegetables.

I got an orchid!

The girls each picked out a flower too.

It seemed like a lot when we were at the store.  It doesn't seem like too much now that we have it home.  That's probably good.  There's no reason to go nuts!  We also found some reclining chairs to sit on our balcony too.  They will be delivered this week.  I think it will be nice to sit out there in the evenings after the kids are in bed.

I need to mention again the organic farm that I've recently discovered and how happy that makes me! We've had deliveries for the past 2 weeks now and it's wonderful.  There's a huge variety in the produce and it's all very fresh and delicious.  It's important to me to feed my family healthy meals.  Finding this fresh organic farm produce has made a huge difference in how I feel about how we are eating.  It's great!

Enough griping for today!!  Thanks for reading!
