Lily started school today! We were all very excited this morning. She got dressed in her new uniform, loaded up her school bag and lunch box and we headed out to a new school. This week, the journey is a long one. From our hotel, school is 50 minutes each way. That means that Wyatt, Madeline and I went to school and home this morning and again this afternoon, almost 4 hours in all. Yikes! Tomorrow and Friday, Scott will take Lily to school, so the kids and I will only pick her up. He was willing today, but I couldn't miss out on the first day of school!
Scott was with us part of the way, but he took a different train when we got to the train station. This morning, he picked up our EP and DP passes (we are now official!) and then went to set up utilities for our new home.
I love this pic! Lily was so happy and excited to start school. The red ribbon on her dress is to show that she is new. She will wear it every day this week. That way, other students and teachers can easily see that she is new and my need some extra help and kindness.
This was Lily when I picked her up this afternoon. She LOVES her class and teacher. Her teacher was very kind and happy to have Lily join the class. They made sushi today!
I met several moms today after school, they were all very kind and friendly. All of them said that it is a very sweet class and I'm happy to hear that. Lily seemed to fit in quite well and even hugged some of her new friends good bye when we left.
Tomorrow is a field trip! Or, as it is called her, a Class Excursion! The class is grouped into teams of 3 or 4 and they are having a Junior Master Chef Day. Each team is planning a recipe and they have to go to the grocery store nearby to buy the items needed to prepare the recipe, then come back and make it. They have a full kitchen to use. Very exciting!
I have a mountain of papers to read through and Lily even has homework! I'm so happy that her first day went well and I'm looking forward to a very fun and exciting year.
